[once he flips over, Spock gently lifts Kirk's head before he completely lays down and scoots a bit closer so that his knees/thighs are under Kirk's head and shoulders, creating a psuedo-pillow for Kirk. Spock then applies some pressure against the tops of Kirk's shoulders close to his neck, pushing down at the angle Kirk's resting in.]

... I can be somewhat compared to the contrast between a person knowing how to play a musical instrument as opposed to an artist playing a song. The mechanics of playing an instrument may be broken down into notes, chords, techniques, and similar factors, but there may be some indefinable quality that only allows an artist to truly bring out music.
