I want to make a deal with Ophiuchus.

I was thinking about finding one of them for a mission. What sort of deal?

Cooking for them in exchange for extra food. I've already spoken to Aeon about it.

There's also the question of weapons—is that the kind of mission you had in mind, or was it something personal?

Weapons, of course. It would be nice to have my gun back.

Your deal with Aeon sounds like a good idea as well.

I'd like a gun, too.

We can see if the rest have weapons they're in need of.

I agree. We also need to build up our food stores a little more again.

If we could find a way of preserving the meat that we hunt, it would help.

. . . I need jars. Jars would help.

If I can put food in jars . . . [gestures] If you do it properly, they won't go bad as fast. Especially if you put them in salt, or oil, or vinegar.

We'd need the rest of those ingredients as well. But I'm sure we can find a way to arrange a trade.

Salt would be really good . . . for a number of things.

[shaking his head, rubbing his temple]

The problem is, I remember snatches of what it would take to do that sort of thing . . . a thought in passing, while cooking with something that had been canned or salted . . . I could probably backwards engineer it from that . . .

It's a shame I don't remember anything like that. Maybe someone from one of the older teams does?
