[Down on her knees, planting some berry seeds in dark black soil, a Pavo is singing softly to herself, the English words tinged slightly with the accent of her native tongue.]

For look, I open the door of victory for you . . . ♪

It's one thing. But . . . there are others, too. Aren't there?

[looking at you kind of blankly]

It just seems like, if that were it . . . Zero would be more unhappy here, too.

Not sure what you mean...

Ahh, it's just . . . the only Zero I know is the one here. And, in your memories, I'm sure it's all different, but . . .

Being human . . . it would mean not being scared anymore. No more being hungry, or worrying that you'll hurt someone, or lose yourself.

But it's always seemed that Zero's happiness . . . that it's not a selfish thing. That it means . . . that the people you care for are safe. That they're happy, too.

All you wanted from me was to see me smile. If there's no one at home, that can smile for you . . . even if you're human, would you be happy?

So I think, if you can . . . wish for both.

... I don't really know what I have left back home, but you can't always get what you want, wish or not.

What do you want?

Ahh . . .

Hmm.. but probably in a place where... uh, I'm less likely to want to get killed by loved ones.

[Reaches over, wrapping an arm around his shoulders and pulling him into a hug.]

[is a little surprised at that gesture, but lets her do so]

It's fine... really.

[Rests her cheek against his shoulder, making no move to let go.]

Because you can still say it's okay . . . that's why it's sad.

... I. I don't know the whole story yet, so I can't really judge...

[Squeezes a little.]

We'll still be here. Even when you do.

[nods]

... Okay.

[Nods, and rests there a minute, relaxing against him.]

[pats... your back awkwardly]

... are you okay yourself?

[Jumps a little, moving back.]

Ah, I'm sorry, I didn't . . . !

I'm fine!

... if you're sure.

Zero should enjoy being like this. Even if it's just for a little while.

[nods]

... it feels a little weird, to be honest, but it's not bad.

It doesn't sound bad. Some parts . . . they're relaxing for the first time in a long time.
