What: When we last left our intrepid heroes...

[In the arena, there's some decent quality meat burning as a gift to two particular Judges, a comatose member of Hydra and a few guards with torches... and not a whole lot else to explain what's going on.

Well the real interesting part is going on a little deeper anyway.]

Haah. I knew before... Red took his memory immediately as always, and he's. . . he's snapped a little.

I guess I'm used to not having the time to enjoy a victory for long. It would have been nice, though.

[Looks over at him as she puts a flat, thin stone half-over the bed of coals in her fire.]

[That'd be because, all of a sudden, the blurriness around the shark sharpens, disappears and then actually gives his eye something to focus on. It takes a moment, wavering like the reflection on water. But by him in cursed-o-vision, you can see Fang's shape resolving... He's leaning against someone who... looks almost exactly like him, bound together loosely in chains from the neck and the wrist.

They both, for the most part, look like they're sleeping.

... If you pay attention though, the chains around them seem to trace backwards towards something else not yet resolved.]

[one lens SWIVELS and Allen's head jerks his attention from Feathers to Fang. Both his eyes widen and he practically falls over himself standing up]

Ah! Fang!?

[Gets up, walking to Fang's couch, kneeling beside him.]

I can see - I can see him? But that doesn't make sense, why would his own soul be "locked" in his own body? And something else, but it's still - I still can't see it. . .

[Leans close, pressing her face against Fang's neck, wrapping an arm around him.]

The "two people" he was before, did they both look like him?

[Listens to a beat more, before shifting back up, pushing back a strand of Fang's hair.]

One with his left eye covered, one with his right.

. . . or a great shark, sometimes, with rows of teeth.

[Gets up, touching Fang's cheek before going back to the meat.]

And the thing in the background... Is resolving into something of a shadow as the chains are wrapping firmly around it. As far as you can tell it's faceless, a hood and cloak, and black feathered wings pinned to it's back by the chains.]

[stares at this, his eye pounding and hungry but it's still not Akuma, at his friend branching his soul, and he swallows thickly]




Feathers, I. . . that "gap" you were talking about. . .

I don't know how the old me would handle this at all. The difference between us is huge. This was where he was most confident. But. . . right now. . . I'm just scared of Fang disappearing.
