[Lets his good leg go entirely, turning to rest a hand just under the scars marking his bad knee.]

. . . you can see the same shape hidden in it, over and over.

[that leg twitches a little in surprise and goes tense]

[Strokes along his shin, soothing, just letting him get used to her hands there.]

Summer and I work with patterns a lot . . . we noticed before she did. All the time she was drawing, she didn't know she was doing it at all.

[tries to forcibly relax it a little]

Ah . . . that's weird, but kinda cool.

[Feels that, too.]

Would it be easier if it stayed stretched out?

Not really . . .

[Nods, slipping an arm under his knee, drawing his leg up to rest against her in much the same way the other had. The angle is gentler this time, and her movements just a bit slower—not even so much to go easy on the healing joint as to let his mind predict how she'll move.]

[definitely focused on that, which helps him ignore the general aaaa /// he's had this whole time. He winces a little but quickly covers it up by looking straight up at the ceiling again]

Looking up means he misses her looking at him, but maybe . . . that isn't so bad. Instead, there's just the gentle curl of her body around his leg . . . the touch of her hands supporting his calf, the stray brush of hair and fabric against his thigh.

The warmth, being this close, when there's nothing else in the way.]

[swallows, and. attempts to say something, fails at it, attempts again . . . ]

Is there - uh. Anything you need me to do . . . ?

[Looks up at him.]

. . . could you . . . give me your hand?

[. . . holds out his hand]

[Reaches out to take it, pulling it just a bit toward her . . .]

[g. . . goes with the pull?]

[. . . and plops it on her head, smooshing her bangs under it.]

. . .

[l-laughs a bit and smooths her bangs back]

[Her shoulders shake a bit, but she manages not to laugh too much in return.]

Mm! Just like that.

I think I've got it.

[Curls her arm back around his leg, just resting it there.]

That sound . . . I think I liked it the best.
