[The patient in this room probably shouldn't be sitting up yet, but she's out of bed, braced against the wall so that she can test the range of movement on her left arm. She's not looking very happy with the results.]

[To put it mildly, she looks like death warmed over. She's entirely too pale, with dark hollows under her eyes, and has lost a lot of weight that she didn't have to spare. Her left leg is visible below the knee, and is wrapped in bandages, along with her left arm below the elbow, her right foot, and most of her torso. The foot, if given more than a passing glance, seems short a few toes, judging by the shape of the bandages.]

[She doesn't say anything, or even nod a greeting- just stares back at him, levelly.]

* he meets her eyes for a moment, then lowers his head. *

Missus Klivian.

Chrysos Kenni.

[Her voice is rough, and a bit scratchy, and still she keeps up that level stare.]

Do you know anything about what I'm doing here?

* he takes a few steps closer to her bedside, stopping about a foot away. *

...in this hospital, or Cepheus itself?

[She shifts a little, folding her arms in a touch more tightly.]

Both. Either.

My brother brought in the news that you were in captivity a month or so back.

* his hands are loose and open at his sides. *

Councilman Kenni managed to negotiate your extradition back to Corehaven.

...I see. In that case, I owe your father my thanks.

...

He sends his regards, and hopes for your speedy recovery.

[Makes a harsh, barking sound that might be an attempt at a laugh.]

I find that hard to believe.

[Actually, her tone suggests that she finds it hard to believe that she's here to begin with, let alone that Councilman Kenni had anything to do with it.]

We talked.

* and there's a subtle shift in tone from polite formality to plainness. Sticking his hands in his pockets. *

Once he'd heard about what happened, he didn't waste much time trying to arrange for your release.

[Glances up at the change in posture, but not relaxing much, herself.]

They're not usually in the habit of giving up prisoners.

They aren't. Hence it... took a while.

* eyes her foot, briefly, and looks away. *

I don't know how he managed it, but it was done.

And now here I am.

...and here you are. Did he send you?

He passed on the news.
