He can see himself out of his eyes, the other Jim saying that he will cover him -- sees his own hand reaching down to the unconscious Romulan, suddenly knowing that Pike is alive and where he's being held --

then Spock removes his hand slowly, the connection ending.]

[The images probably aren't nearly as sharp with a human doing this, but most of it gets through. You're standing on the bridge of the Enterprise, offering mercy to Nero. Not that you want to give it to him -- hell no, you'd rather see him die. But it's important to make the offer. The other Spock disagrees with your offer, but it doesn't matter in the end. Nero refuses, and you dispatch into the black hole with great pleasure.

[Seriously, man. Things get a little crazy for a while. You rack your brains for a solution, any solution, and end up yelling at Scotty to do whatever it takes to get the ship the hell out of this situation. You sit in the captain's chair and brace yourself for impact.

The memory fades just as you realize that you're gonna make it out of this alive after all. And damn does it feel good.]

I can piece together the rest from my other memories. We go back to Earth, I spend about a week in the hospital, and then Starfleet gives me a commendation and command of the Enterprise.
