Who: Molotov, Simba, whoever
Where: Riverside
When: Day 147, early morning
What: morning in the life

[Two baby Hydras are wandering along the banks of the river today, and one of them is picking at bits of plantlife he comes across. Right now he has a particularly spiky, mean-looking thing.]

...I don't know, it's tougher, but I bet it wouldn't last long in the sink.

Why would you- Why would you even consider killing anyone in a game? And I wouldn't do that either! And I said more trustworthy, I know your team is reasonable and Bond wouldn't have mentioned you otherwise.

But it really doesn't strike you as odd? Acting like you do. If that's really how you are, what if someone uses it against you?

[Deeeeeep breaths. Takes a few moments before answering, calming down.]

... Because that's what happens in some games. Sometimes teams are pitted against each other and have to make horrible life-or-death decisions.

If someone uses it against me, then I'll deal with that problem when I come to it. But trust and politeness are two-way doors. You can't get them without giving them. So I choose to give them. I'm sorry if you have a problem with that.

I- I didn't know. No one told me that about the games. But the message in the tube said to not kill, I don't think I ever could...

Trust and politeness still has nothing to do with each other, though. You talk and smile like everything will be alright, but how could anyone believe that? Especially after what you just told me.

[identity profile] assumedposition.insanejournal.com 2010-07-10 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
... Because I believe things can be all right-- but only if everybody makes an effort for it to be.

Then why does everyone keep warning us that it won't be? No one will let themselves get killed for some strangers sake.

[identity profile] assumedposition.insanejournal.com 2010-07-10 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Because they want you to be prepared.

But that's where the problem lies. Nobody wants to kill other people, but most people want to be killed even less than that. But we need it to be the other way around. What if everyone simultaneously refused to kill or hurt others? What then?

[identity profile] nevercomingback.insanejournal.com 2010-07-10 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not going to kill anyone, but I'm going to protect myself.

[identity profile] assumedposition.insanejournal.com 2010-07-10 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
... I don't have any right to ask you to do differently.

But that's what I did, my first game. And I... came out of it feeling worse than if someone had stabbed me. Not physically, but... it's just really difficult. To know that someone else had to get hurt because you were only protecting yourself. I don't ever want to stand by and watch that again.

[identity profile] nevercomingback.insanejournal.com 2010-07-10 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
So instead you would rather wish that feeling on someone else?

[identity profile] assumedposition.insanejournal.com 2010-07-10 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
No! I don't want anyone to get hurt! That's the point!

[identity profile] nevercomingback.insanejournal.com 2010-07-10 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Then show me that it actually works! I'll gladly help you if it does, but I'm not just going to sit back while someone tries to harm Hope.

...Good luck.

Thanks again.
