One thing at a time, okay?

I'm Dove, we're on Pyxis together! There's usually six to a team, but right now with you we've only got five. The room you woke up in is yours now, you live in the house with the rest of us.

Good to meet you, Dove. So it's like our base, or dorms, huh? Are we waiting for another person?

Mm, yes and no. Someone else will come because the Judges usually fill up all the spaces on the teams, but we don't know who or when.

I'm afraid this place is a lot of bad news, but we all do our best to take care of each other.

These Judges really like to do a lot of work behind the scenes, huh?

What kind of bad news?

It's like... the Judges are really powerful, they can do anything. You're here because there's a wish you want granted -- but you have to "earn" it by playing in the Judges' games. Some of them are okay, but some of them are really difficult and scary. People are hurt and die and things like that.

It's normal to wake up with no memories, we all come here like that. When our team wins one of the games, you'll get a memory back -- it usually looks like a little berry that you eat.

Strange. . .but that explains what the wall meant. But did you mean to say die?

Yep! I've died three or four times now! I can't exactly remember.

But it's okay, 'cause Pyxis is your family and we'll look after you. Cygnus, too! They're the people wearing pink, they live next door.

Er, right. Thy unit is your family, or something similar to that. The kid from the light blue team called Cygnus our partners.

Yep. It means we can share things freely with each other -- you have to trade if it's other teams or else you'll get punished -- and sometimes we're paired together in games.

So no one gets anything here for free? What kind of punishment?

Tazing usually. It hurts but it doesn't last forever or leave injuries.

We get daily rations, but mostly we have to try to find food and things for ourselves.

We fend for ourselves? I may not remember much of anything but that doesn't seem too surprising given the. . .surroundings.

There's a lake for fishing and these lizard things you can catch, and some plants. We can teach you what we know later.
