(no subject)

Who: Mitsuru, Syaoran, Lizard McDeadcarcass, anyone
Where: Outside the cave entrance
When: Day 145, late morning
What: science experiments and meat! a winning combo!

[Two (slightly bloodied up) boys coming out of the caves after having snuck off at ridiculous o'clock in the morning today -- victorious! They've got themselves a nice little fatty lizard which is floating on home behind them courtesy of some wind magic. Which creates a mini hurricane of wind for anyone nearby when it's released. WHHHOOOOOSH.]

How many strips will we need?

We were going to try drying with air, baking it dry, soaking it in alcohol, and salting it.

Drying with air will lead to rot. Unless you use your magic, maybe.

Baking it will let it keep for...hmm...a few days.

What difference would the magic make?

[identity profile] sillyrabitricks.insanejournal.com 2010-07-04 09:53 am (UTC)(link)
Faster process. Drying it is just getting out all the moisture, right? Letting it sit around waiting for that naturally...

Maybe if you cut it into very thin bits it'd work, but otherwise it'd rot first.

A steady blast might be different though? I don't know. I never really thought too hard about preserving. My thoughts are generally Get Ice.

...I wonder if I could just take all the water out of it.

[Looks thoughtful.]

Ice will work, too?

[identity profile] sillyrabitricks.insanejournal.com 2010-07-04 10:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah if you just freeze it, it will keep until the ice melts.

[identity profile] byallmeans.insanejournal.com 2010-07-04 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
Does it have to be prepared before that?

[identity profile] sillyrabitricks.insanejournal.com 2010-07-04 10:46 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry I'm not more help. I'll get you guys that salt this afternoon though. Should be home by dinner.

[identity profile] byallmeans.insanejournal.com 2010-07-04 10:50 am (UTC)(link)
Syaoran said you'd show us how to cut the meat?

[identity profile] sillyrabitricks.insanejournal.com 2010-07-04 10:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah! I can fit that in before lunch and then I have a thing I promised to help Hydra and Canis with after lunch and then I can get salt and be home in time to make dinner.

[identity profile] byallmeans.insanejournal.com 2010-07-04 11:03 am (UTC)(link)
If you don't have time, say so.

I can freeze it, and anyway we have enough salt to get started. I watched you cut the meat last time; it won't be perfect, but I think I can do a decent enough job.

[identity profile] sillyrabitricks.insanejournal.com 2010-07-04 11:05 am (UTC)(link)
I have time, just not a lot. I'm on a schedule is all. I'm making you aware of it. We should have enough time.

[identity profile] byallmeans.insanejournal.com 2010-07-04 11:13 am (UTC)(link)
And I'm telling you, if your schedule's too crowded, we'll be fine without the help.

[identity profile] sillyrabitricks.insanejournal.com 2010-07-04 11:23 am (UTC)(link)
It's not. Now stop being difficult when I'm trying to love you with helpfulness.

Gonna go clean up Syaoran, be back in a few.

[leaving you to be difficult ON YOUR OWN]

[YOU WOULD BE SURPRISED AT HOW WELL HE CAN MANAGE IT.]
