I know that part, its just kind of insane someone could do something like this. And even worst that they would do something like this. Why the hell was Jace at the thing if that was going on?

What thing? He wasn't with his team?

I saw him at the ceremony. He was only there really briefly, so maybe he was looking for someone. But he was there.

I did see him there. He was the only Canis present.

After what his teammate did?! He just sent an old man and went to a ceremony?!

I understand your anger, but calm down. You don't want to wake Jim up and excite him. It'll increase his blood flow.
