[half-distracted by goat]

What, just one?

[identity profile] lawfulreception.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 09:59 am (UTC)(link)
Soldier's entire being is a contradiction, yes, but I mean another thing! Something that doesn't match!

[identity profile] crazylikeavulp.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:01 am (UTC)(link)
What are you even talking about?

[identity profile] lawfulreception.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:05 am (UTC)(link)
Just. . .look! Soldier's mother is Queen, right? We all know that. But skip down to the last paragraph.

""

Queen then says Soldier won't be the but he'll be the oldest.

Do you see what this means?!

[identity profile] crazylikeavulp.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that King's kind of a lech, huh?

[identity profile] lawfulreception.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
. . .yes.

But since Queen isn't his wife, who is? Have we even met her? And why is she called Queen if she really isn't?

[identity profile] crazylikeavulp.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
That's a mystery all right, but you forgot the most important question.

[identity profile] crazylikeavulp.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
...ah. Scowl beat me to it.

[identity profile] lawfulreception.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:16 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think that's what the writer intended. . .

[identity profile] crazylikeavulp.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:18 am (UTC)(link)
Who cares what the writer intended? He probably just screwed up. [shrug]

[identity profile] lawfulreception.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:22 am (UTC)(link)

I doubt it, since it's pretty detailed. . .admittedly, Soldier's not a reliable narrator, but still.

[identity profile] crazylikeavulp.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:26 am (UTC)(link)
If it matters so much - which it doesn't, by the way - then why don't you just ask him?

[identity profile] lawfulreception.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:28 am (UTC)(link)
I think I will the next time he runs a game, assuming he's sober enough to give a relatively straight answer.

[identity profile] crazylikeavulp.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:35 am (UTC)(link)
You're waiting until he's sober? For some crazy reason I think you'll be waiting awhile.

[identity profile] lawfulreception.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
. . .well, at least not so drunk that he's completely slurring everything again.

[identity profile] righthandsmoke.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
[passing by on his way to the library or something]

Who cares? You don't need to fucking yell about it!

[identity profile] lawfulreception.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:13 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not yelling! And I care. Maybe this isn't completely useless--I mean, why bother saving such a stupid story?

[identity profile] righthandsmoke.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
Because someone wanted a goddamn bookmark.

[identity profile] crazylikeavulp.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:15 am (UTC)(link)
It did do a pretty good job of reminding me where I was in the story.

[identity profile] lawfulreception.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
[s-sob]

W-well yes, but before it became a bookmark. What if someone had saved it to look back on, and another person stumbled on it, thinking it was a waste of a paper, and turned it into a bookmark?

[identity profile] righthandsmoke.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:20 am (UTC)(link)
Or maybe the original writer realized it was a waste of paper and turned it into one themselves.

[identity profile] lawfulreception.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:23 am (UTC)(link)
But I would hope they'd realize that before taking the time to write all this out. . .

[identity profile] righthandsmoke.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
I write down a lot of stuff that I think might be useful at the time. Sometimes it just turns out to be useless later. It's dated their 37th day, so they still knew hardly anything compared to us. It makes sense something useless might get recorded then.

[identity profile] lawfulreception.insanejournal.com 2010-04-21 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
That's a good point. . .though there's no way to compare how much they had experienced in those days. Maybe it is useless, but it might still have a little value to us. If it's true I'd really like to know who his wife is.
