When: Day 98, evening
What: When we last left our intrepid heroes...

[In the arena, there's some decent quality meat burning as a gift to two particular Judges, a comatose member of Hydra and a few guards with torches... and not a whole lot else to explain what's going on.

Well the real interesting part is going on a little deeper anyway.]

Ehh?

Just . . . this week.

Ah . . . yeah. I know what you mean.

[Leans against the wall, really just too tired to do anything else, and holds out her hand.]

. . . it would be strange, wouldn't it? To ask Raven if he's sure.

[eyes her hand for a moment before reaching out to take it]

Mm . . . a little.

[Holds his hand in hers for a moment, squeezing gently, then turns it over, tracing her fingers down his wrist.]

The veins, here . . . it's a small cut, but it still hurts, a bit.

[blinks, watching her, fingers twitching a bit]

Ah . . . do you need my knife?

Would that be okay? Mine . . . it's still not fixed. And stone isn't so good, for this.

[shakes his head and reaches behind him, pulling it out and offering to her, hilt first]

[Takes it.]

[. . . and scootches forward a bit. And then again. And once more, leaning against him now, instead of the wall.]

lets her ._.]

A-are you really sure?

If I wasn't sure, I wouldn't have given you my knife.

[It was a silly question. But . . . this person, he's really . . . really . . . Ikki-kun, Raven, he's really . . . letting someone like me . . .

. . . wraps her fingers (calloused, rough, not really like a girl's at all) around his wrist, steadying it as she moves the knife against his skin, careful and quick.]

[winces a little and lets out a quiet hiss, but otherwise keeps his hand where it is]

[She manages enough presence of mind to put the knife safely out of the way, and . . . not much more than that. Hungry, so hungry, and he's thee and she can hear the wind over the sound of their echoing heartbeats, a breeze that rustles the garments of the dim shadow standing watch over them, thrumming along piano strings taut with waiting music.

Curled against him, she lowers her head and drinks.]

[can't help but. stare as he watches her, blushing as she curls up against him, then quickly looking up, to the side, anywhere but down. his fingers flex idly, once, before stilling]

[Somewhere, far back in the back of her mind, comes the idle thought that this could only possibly be better if they didn't have any clothes on.]

[no thoughts like that on THIS END]

[. . . after Sensei, no thoughts like that is fine, too.

She does seem to relax, after a minute, finally letting go of a tension she barely aware of carrying.]

[relaxes a little too, and eventually leans back a bit, closing his eyes]

[Shifts just a little when he moves, almost unconsciously fitting herself back against him, the rest of the tension draining completely away.

A few minutes after that, the slow shifts of her lips against his wrist finally stop, tongue brushing once more against his skin as she pulls back.]

[blushes a little but doesn't really move, safe to lift a hand to rub at his face as he yawns]

[Presses her fingers over the cut, holding it while she pulls out a strip of purple fabric, and a bit of gauze.]

It's been a long day, too.
