(no subject)

Who: Hydra, Ikki, Allen, ANY
Where: The Arena
When: Day 98, evening
What: When we last left our intrepid heroes...

[In the arena, there's some decent quality meat burning as a gift to two particular Judges, a comatose member of Hydra and a few guards with torches... and not a whole lot else to explain what's going on.

Well the real interesting part is going on a little deeper anyway.]

M . . . maybe. . . and it's the future, so, there's still what hasn't happened yet. . . maybe Japan is restored?

When you say . . . 'wiped out'. What do you mean?

. . . I mean... Master said that Japan has refused to deal with foreign intervention or trade for hundreds of years. Nobody's left and nobody's gone in. Because of that, it's become a nesting place for Akuma. And because of that... almost all the humans that lived there are dead.

[Nods.]

The isolation ended. During Kenshin's time, when the power of the shoguns was returned to the Emperor.

I don't remember anything about people dying.

So. . . if he was one hundred years ago, and I'm two hundred. . . if we beat the Earl in my lifetime, one hundred years for humans to recover in Japan.

I'm not sure how, if things were that bad . . . I don't think we knew how to make people, back then. But . . . it seems that way, for sure.

Surprise?

. . . You mean non-traditionally make people?

Ahh . . . maybe Allen should forget that part.

"Maybe forget that part". . .

I remember a lab, in a research facility. We were looking for . . .

[Shakes her head.]

. . .something important. But . . . one of the people I was with, though . . . she said it was like the place she was created.

. . . even after Allen's war, there are still secrets, in our world.

. . .

Just. . . making people? Out of nothing? But -- how?

Re: MEANWHILE, IN THE ARENA:

[identity profile] roadtothesky.insanejournal.com 2010-01-16 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Not from nothing. There still has to be a chromosomes, a DNA sequence . . . and they need time to grow up, like anyone else.

Re: MEANWHILE, IN THE ARENA:

Still - still has to be what?

Re: MEANWHILE, IN THE ARENA:

[identity profile] roadtothesky.insanejournal.com 2010-01-16 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahh . . . that's right. It was a long time ago.

Allen knows what cells are?

Prison cells?

Re: MEANWHILE, IN THE ARENA:

[identity profile] roadtothesky.insanejournal.com 2010-01-17 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Not . . . quite.

Maybe we should start at where babies come from.

Re: MEANWHILE, IN THE ARENA:

I know that much!

Re: MEANWHILE, IN THE ARENA:

[identity profile] roadtothesky.insanejournal.com 2010-01-17 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
Then it's like that. Except there's not really any parents. I think.

Re: MEANWHILE, IN THE ARENA:

[identity profile] pierrotdetous.insanejournal.com 2010-01-18 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
Well... wait. What is a cell?

Re: MEANWHILE, IN THE ARENA:

[identity profile] roadtothesky.insanejournal.com 2010-01-18 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
A tiny tiny tiny piece of your body. Or of a plant, or . . . a lizard, or a beebat, or a bearbee . . .

Mmm . . . anything living.

Re: MEANWHILE, IN THE ARENA:

[identity profile] pierrotdetous.insanejournal.com 2010-01-18 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
--Oh. Wait, I remember Master talking about that. . . I didn't get it a the time, but. . . that's definitely real?

Re: MEANWHILE, IN THE ARENA:

[identity profile] roadtothesky.insanejournal.com 2010-01-18 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
Mm! It really is.

Babies . . . they're just one cell, when everything begins.

Re: MEANWHILE, IN THE ARENA:

[identity profile] pierrotdetous.insanejournal.com 2010-01-18 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
. . .

[mind blown]

That's so hard to imagine. . . that we're made up of the same stuff lizards are. . . but if the future says that's how it is, and Master says it, then. . .

Re: MEANWHILE, IN THE ARENA:

[identity profile] pierrotdetous.insanejournal.com 2010-01-18 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
So - so, to make people without parents, you just use the same cells that parents would put together?

Re: MEANWHILE, IN THE ARENA:

[identity profile] roadtothesky.insanejournal.com 2010-01-18 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
I don't remember it really well. But parts of your DNA . . . that's kind of the blueprint, that tells cells what kind of cells they should be, and where they should go . . . parts come from your mother, and parts from your father.

But in the right kind of lab, parts can be changed to ones that haven't come from anyone at all.
