Who: DelPavo + anyone
Where: DelPavo
When: Day 276, evening, post-plotting
What:

[Whatever locks the Geardorm has on its main doors have now been very securely locked. And then re-locked, just to be sure.

A cranky tiny is scrutinizing them as if he's seriously considering adding more.]

It's okay to trouble me. I think . . . it's really part of being teammates. To be there in the good times, and to be able to lean on each other during the bad times, too.

[Mirror . . . ]

What did she do?

If it's something that made hugs from me not okay, it's not fine at all!

What did she do?

[Holding his hand back, grip anything but loose.]

How did she remind you?

. . . your eyes didn't go gold, did they?

Tide too . . .

[jiiiii]

Maybe red is Delphinus's colour . . .

There's a lot of people on Pavo she could affect that way. Delphinus, too . . . almost everyone like that has eyes that change.

When Tide said, "Remind you of who you are" . . . part of that 'who' is really 'what', isn't it?

[identity profile] roadtothesky.insanejournal.com 2011-10-08 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
It has to be. Because if it was just 'who', it wouldn't be a bad thing. Really, it would be the other way around . . . the reward for playing in games, for winning them is to be reminded of who we are. Even if that person is someone we don't really like, or who we're ashamed of . . . even if it's someone who scares us. We still play.

'What' is harder because it's something the person in our memories can struggle with too. And if the person we were and the person we are both feel the same way, it can be a little like there's no escape.

[Wraps his other hand between both of hers, holding it close to her as she crouches down to his height.]

No two people are the same, so I can't say, "I know what it's like." Especially if it's something you want to keep just as yours.

But . . . especially if it's something Mirror used . . . you're not alone. Those feelings . . . they're something a lot of us can understand. And especially if they're hard, they're not . . . something you need to hide.

They're not something you need to face alone.

It's also strategy! Mirror's biggest strength is the part of your reflection you don't want to see. And even if it's not something most people can do, if you can face her when she's showing you that and still see her underneath, you can yell at her when she needs to be yelled at.
