Where: Lacerta!!11
When: Day 217, Afternoon!!11
What: !!!!1111one

[AFTER CHECKING ON DOLPHINS gosh this sure seems like a good time to go check on his FAAAAAAAAAVORITE LIZARDS--]

[only BAM. One second you see him running head first to their dorm, the next second he's bouncing waaay back into a pile of rocks]

[wat is this trickery \e_e/]

--what the heck was that?!

. . .

[reaches out spontaneously and touches Allen's hair lightly! . . . before shying away, playing it cool and grabbing his tea instead]

We all do what we can. In situations like these—we can't always win, but we won't always lose. But we also can't protect everyone we care about, even though we . . . really want to. But . . . thank you. For what you do do.

[goes. totally still when he does that, surprised, blinking wide while he listens.]

... You're welcome.

[identity profile] zeromemories.insanejournal.com 2011-02-22 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
. . . haah, honestly, I look up to Lacerta a lot.

[identity profile] zeromemories.insanejournal.com 2011-02-22 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
You're just generally . . . really good people. You're self-sacrificing, but not in a way that makes you weak, and not to the extent that you don't look after your own.

It's—not something that would or could work for most teams. And while you have your troubles just as much as—or perhaps more than the rest of us—you can't deny that you're well-liked, and—mm, respected.

[fkhgn. what. do i.]

. . . ah, I...

I'm still stunned that we were unscathed in that game. I'm really grateful.

[identity profile] zeromemories.insanejournal.com 2011-02-22 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
. . . I'm really glad you were. You honestly deserve it.

Ahhh, I think even Corvus would choose to protect you if they could, and I'll be the first to admit that Lynx and Corvus are very self-centered. But they know I care . . . and really, even though they're kind of rough on Cobra, they like him. A lot of them are just incredibly bad at showing it . . . or liking anybody outside the team, really.

[EYE CONTACT IS NOW DIFFICULT CONGRATULATIONS also his ears are red] ...

Plenty of teams full of good people are like that. That's a normal response to this place, i think...

We're -- as guilty as everyone else. And as selfish. [rakes his hand through his hair] Half the time our memories make us fall unconscious or change personalities, so we're just floundering, really. We'd just rather accept that but still care about people, I suppose --

In Mirror's case it gets us into awful trouble, but it's trouble we chose.

[identity profile] zeromemories.insanejournal.com 2011-02-22 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm. All the teams—we're not so different as we are alike, I think.

If there's ever anything I can do for you, though—

[identity profile] pierrotdetous.insanejournal.com 2011-02-22 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
You could always visit more. Cobra loves seeing you.

[identity profile] zeromemories.insanejournal.com 2011-02-22 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[. . . flushes, a bit guiltily, and ducks his head]

Ah . . .

It's—not that I don't like seeing him.

[identity profile] pierrotdetous.insanejournal.com 2011-02-22 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
He's still really guilty about that eye...

And he makes us listen to his awful lines about you. "When I get into his heart, it won't be because of Mirror."

[identity profile] zeromemories.insanejournal.com 2011-02-22 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
The eye was my fault, not his.

—did he really say that.

[identity profile] pierrotdetous.insanejournal.com 2011-02-22 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
It was in his heart. It's impossible to convince someone it wasn't their fault.

He was dead serious.

[identity profile] zeromemories.insanejournal.com 2011-02-22 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I know, but the actions we take should still account for some measure of the blame. Though I do understand.

. . . haah, that idiot. I already told him I—. . . [huffs]

[identity profile] pierrotdetous.insanejournal.com 2011-02-22 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
. . . Well, like I said.

As for other help, I'm not sure what I'd ask for... though I do like your cooking. I just don't really know Lynx's resources.

[identity profile] zeromemories.insanejournal.com 2011-02-22 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
. . . I really do care about him.

Ah—anyway, things are tight right now for all of us. But just—if you do ever need anything. I suppose.

[identity profile] pierrotdetous.insanejournal.com 2011-02-22 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you then.

And good... that idiot is really important to me, so I just want him to be happy.

[identity profile] zeromemories.insanejournal.com 2011-02-22 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
He really is an idiot . . .

I'll come see him more often. Or . . . try. It's just difficult—I don't go out by myself. And it's not always ideal to bring one of the others with me.

[identity profile] pierrotdetous.insanejournal.com 2011-02-22 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Alright. Just know you're welcome here.

[identity profile] pierrotdetous.insanejournal.com 2011-02-22 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[sits back, careful with his duct-taped arm, and sips his tea with a sigh]
