So I can locate this black stone stuff that's in a place with lava and magma or whatever. Sturdy stuff. I figure I could find it and use it for making things. Was curious if you'd want in.

...you mean obsidian? Is it kinda shiny and makes these sharp chunks sometimes?

[snaps fingers]

That's it. I can pick out the more pure stuff.

You can? That'd be pretty useful... obsidian's a lot stronger than flint and makes really good cutting points. Like knife blades or axe heads and so on. A nice sharp chunk'd go through even lizard skin.

The purer stuff doesn't break as easily, so it's harder to work on, but once you've got it shaped it'll last you a long time.

So how's 'bout I find the stuff, and you can make stuff for the both of us?

...I've actually still got a couple of chunks back in the dorm, if you could help take a look at those. Usually I only find out once the stuff's broken in my hands.

What else do you guys need, tool-wise? Just for an idea.

We can kill two birds with one stone then.

... weapons, mostly. We got a task from Ophiuchus to finish up so we can get some, but back-up supplies wouldn't hurt. A spear to hunt big game would work, too. More to trade if we get more meat, right?

Aah, can't believe long spears're finally an option...

Right, right. I'll see what I can do. And I'll show you a few things about shaping the stuff, it's not hard except for the effort.

Talking about big game... have you guys gone for a hunt yet?

Nah, we don't have the weapons for it yet, like I said.

Jace offered to come with if we decided to go. I know we--Corvus, that is--are pretty good in a fight, so we should do pretty well. So far, though, just the smaller lizards and fish.

Any ideas yet about particular preferences among the guys? Someone better with long range or a specific melee weapon or something...

Night actually wanted a weapon that was good with movement--possible long-distance that he could use while also on the move. He might get something like that from Ophiuchus, but like I said, I wouldn't object to back-ups.

... I don't think Dagger wants any weapons, but probably another knife, anything. Bigger. For self-defense.

Long-distance and mobile... Set of throwing knives? Or a crossbow... that's heavier...

...got it. And you're good with a spear?

No idea. Can't hurt to train myself though.
