Where: Near the lake.
When: Day 83, morning
What: Explooooring.

[It's the morning, Rex woke up early and is busy wandering around exploring because it's fun and because he still feels like he doesn't know this place well enough. That said, he keeps getting turned around anyway, eventually ending up near the lake, his long stick in hand! Yay.

He's crouched near the edge of the lake, looking at the water right now.]

*so THAT'S where you are..... watching from a bit of a distance for a moment :|*

What kind of fish had he said were in here..?

*watches for a little longer, considering something, then strides forward*

Oi, Orange!

[... who is Orange? and who was that-- oh, wait, he recognizes that voice, turning his head toward it]

I'm not Orange!

Yeah, then what do you call those ugly rags you're wearing?

*you might notice he's also carrying a stick, which he swings to rest on his shoulder as he talks*

[Rex stands, turning fully to face him, his stick at his side.]

They are the same as yours.

Ha! At least mine aren't some terrible color.

*abruptly though he drops his mocking tone, expression changing to a small anticipatory smirk as he shifts his stance and lowers his stick to point it at Yukimura*

Anyway, there's something I want to know. Now show me what you can do!

*and with no more warning than that, lunges forward, stick swinging at Yukimura*

They're not--

[he gets that much out before he reacts to the charge, making an attempt to bring his own stick up to block the other man's swinging stick, and he manages to do it, two handed, but better than nothing]

What are you doing?

[if i remembered popcorn, i might want some for this]

*his aim still isn't the greatest, but it's a notch better than before, and he's making up for it somewhat by pressing the attack to keep it close and personal*

Ha! What's it look like? Now come on, is that the best you can do!

*two hot-blooded young samurai duking it out with sticks? oh yeah, that's some quality entertainment right there*

[Rex doesn't answer, and instead does the easiest thing for him to do; that is, shoving against the other man's stick with his own, throwing his whole body weight against it to try to knock him back. The force of two hands should, logically, beat a one-handed hold]

[fun times, definitely!]

[seriously, this is almost as good as cable. also you still kinda suck]

[i almost feel bad for you having to put up with his ridiculousness, random kid in orange. almost]

*is forced back! breaks off, quickly stepping back and to the side, only to let that motion flow into another strike from a different angle*

[don't worry about me, this is kinda fun. if also utterly confusing]

*yeah, well, I'm getting better, so I don't care :D also is plainly enjoying this, not so much out of bloodlust so much as sheer pleasure in the challenge*

[Rex's stick is only in one hand now but he does block, letting the other stick glance off his own as he tries to jump out of the way, back from the stick-sword]

[there is that. which hasn't escaped kieran at all]

[i am gaining the knowledge that perhaps patches doesn't suck as bad as he seems. and it does kinda look fun]

*his attack blocked, he simply pushes on with another strike, refusing to let up the pressure. though his movements are still a bit awkward and clumsy at times, there's something soothingly familiar about all this*

Hey! Is that all you can do? Come on and fight!

*you might also get the feeling that Masamune knows the orange kid somehow, given the way he's goading him on like he knows what he should expect*

[patches, you have depth? this is kinda weird. perfectly content to sit quietly and watch this drama unfold]

[Rex just keeps swinging his stick up to block each time, sometimes just bare moments before the other stick is poised to hit him, which, he has to admit, is pretty good considering he had only been thinking that the stick was comfortable and familiar in his hand, rather than really knowing how to use it.

Weird. Of course, what he really wants to do is just bodily throw himself at the other man and find a way to tackle him to the ground, or hit him with a fist, or something, but he can't deny that this is totally getting his blood pumping]

Does Canis always attack Vulpecula like this?!
