I was living by blackmailing rich people. Not very well, apparently; an acquaintance who was managing my accounts told me I was low on money. And I must have annoyed someone, because they threw an elemental at me once my acquaintance left.

I don't actually know whether I did or not. It can't have been long before I joined up with some significantly less pleasant but more influential people, so I don't imagine I did much more.
