Where: away from the Orpheus common area, the lake, and other common areas.
When: Day 148, morning.
What: releasing tension.

[Someone's snuck out of the dorms vvvery early. And appears to be taking it out on the rocks with his materia.

Watch out for minor earthquakes.]

That was more like step zero.

[takes a deep breath, then releases it.]

Tell me about what you saw in there.

*nods*

Take a seat. We might as well rest while I talk.

[nods, and sits down, looking at Jace.]

*sits down and leans back*

We started out in a smallish room; crowded with all of us. Someone who looked like you when you were a girl for that one game was trying to piece a mirror together, but the pieces were flying away as she worked. She told us that she was the representation of the part of you trying to repair itself. She changed appearance to Mirror once, and gave us a briefing; the broken parts of you we were supposed to reassemble were hidden throughout the mindscape, and once we reassembled them and found the cause of the damage, she could do the rest.

[nodding, not saying anything yet.]

She made us a door, and we ended up in the briefing room in your office. Nothing stood out there, so we went on into the office proper. There were a lot of people there; from your memories and from here both.

*shows a ghost-image of the room, small and transparent, but large enough to pick out details*

Jim found the shard we were looking for; some kind of artificer's communication gadget with a message about your medical testing. It transformed into a shard when he picked it up, and then Reyes split us up. Ashikawa and Nebula were with me, and Meridian and Monty with Jim. We separated at that point, so I can only tell you what Jim told me until we found each other again.

Not "gadget", a cell phone. But same difference.

What'd you see?

*nods*

The first area was something that happened to us; the first time your telepathy activated, after that one game. The aspect of you there was holding other people's memories, which were the shards we were after, and worried about going mad. We tried to get you calmed down enough to get them back, and were...partly successful. Nebula tried to get you to cast them aside, which didn't work well. You gave them to him and bolted, so we followed you; the Relative said something to you before you did, trying to mess with your mind. "They'll try to tear you down to their level, baby boy. And we can't have that. Because you'll rise above them, if you listen to me."

*the flat, sardonic tone of his voice as he quotes is extremely eloquent.*

The next area was Surgeon's game; we were all transformed. There were...eight mirrors, I think, showing different scenes; you were in the one showing an empty room. That was easy enough to work out, and that aspect was the shard we were looking for. The aspect opened the way for us to find Jim and the others.

[face is fairly blank for most of that recitation, although it freezes the moment the Relative is mentioned.]

What happened to Jim, Merry and Monty?

They got into a room with a decorated tree and a lot of dead bodies; people you'd seen die. I'm not sure what the shard was in there. They found the Relative, fought off his influence, and put out the fire he set; we met up right afterward.

Right. Where'd that leave you?

...outside the house with roses. We debriefed, then got in as quickly as we could.

We were in time; he'd just started cutting you, and that didn't end well for him at all. Ashikawa and I got him off you and Jim got you a little calmer; he tried his little projection trick, but he wasn't counting on me, and he didn't have the chance to try twice.

*that may be a brief look of satisfaction in his eyes before he continues*

The aspect of you in there picked up his knife, but we convinced you to drop it. The anomaly tried to manifest in the form of an angel, breaking through the mirror in that room, and that didn't end well for it at all. Between me and Ashikawa and Nebula, we crushed it before it could do anything.

[the mention of the knife gets a small winces]

And then?

We were moved to a room...an apartment, warm, but with a fan going, and a woman and two children. The woman was braiding the girl's hair, and the children were putting a mirror back together. The boy curled up and went to sleep, and the last thing we saw was that the mirror was whole again.

[...oh. oh wow. after a moment or two, he manages to nod.]

That's the end of it.

I see.

[voice is a little higher then normal, unsteady, but his words are firm.]

*nods*

Mostly.

[opening his eyes again]

*nods again*

I guess what must have caused the coma is stress. Too much, too fast. Which...[shrugs]

...is pretty understandable, given the circumstances.
