[There's a person in gray walking around the new buildings. He seems to be scanning the area around the two buildings, getting his bearings perhaps? Though he looks pretty calm and collected.

It wo- [Freezes. Not just going rigid or tense, but quite literally freezes in place for a few seconds before stumbling back.] W-what...?

[And there's that freezing again. That's kind of a not living stillness when he does that and he stumbles back like he's just got some sort of shock and he's grabbing his head.]

[also backing up. w-what]

I...why couldn't I....it was like...I was just gone! What...what did you do?!

[Yeah, taht careful control he's been keeping this whole time? OUT the window.]

*and suddenly, if you're psychic, you can feel something lock into place around Rory's mind, cutting off all telepathy*

...bloody hell. First time I've ever seen someone allergic to telepathy.

[That stillness again as Poppy talks, jerking back as soon as the shield is around him, doing a good job of stabilizing that psychic signal that was coming from Brass' head.]

...is that what that was?! When did allergies make people's heads just...just shut off! It was like I was there and then I wasn't! [Oh yeah, now the freak out is obvious.]

[Still in shock and unsure of what happened. Glad that Jace is here now at least. whimpers.]

*drops a hand on Poppy's head*

I think you're going to have to use sign language for this one, Poppy.

*to Rory*

Get your bracer back up; I have you shielded, but you might as well use what you were given. It seems like external telepathy interferes with the...connection of your mind to your body. I've never seen anything like it before, so I didn't expect it.

[It takes a few seconds, but he's managing to put it back up.]

What...just how the bloody hell does that even HAPPEN?! [Good job, Poppy. You broke mister calm. At least he seems more natural in his freak out state.]

Better. You probably shouldn't drop it again; there aren't many telepaths here, but there are a few others.

As to how it happens, your guess is as good as mine, unfortunately.

[s-slowly and hesitantly takes one step towards, whining apologetically]

As long as you do that, you'll be fine. I wouldn't mind knowing what makes that happen, to be honest, but not at the risk of your safety.

Hopefully I'll remember it soon because that seems pretty important. [And he would rather be aware of what might be making his head do that.]

[Looks at Poppy warily. H-he didn't seem to know it would happen...and his teammate had told him how to get it to stop...so it wasn't a trap, right?

...and it's really, REALLY hard to resist that puppy dog look. He hesitantly reaches out to pat his head.] At...at least I know about it, right?

*and the teammate looks pretty genuinely surprised and disconcerted*

It's something. I'm sorry; it never would have occurred to me that something like that was possible. Poppy's telepathy is about as noninvasive as you can get and still project.

[keeps still as he's patted]

[whines again. bumping his head lightly against the hand] I'm so sorry

[Pats the puppy. He seems pretty sorry too.] It's okay. I...I really didn't have a clue it'd happen either.

[Looks at Jace.] It was like as soon as I heard him, everything just got...muffled. Like...like I was in a net that was pulling me in and throwing me away at the same time...
